Cyclovia Tucson—Arizona’s biggest block party—is back with five miles of activity hubs, food trucks, and family fun

Tucson, AZ (February 16th, 2022) –After two and a half years, Cyclovia Tucson returns to the streets in a big way. On Sunday, March 27th from 9 AM to 3 PM, five miles of car-free city streets will be open to people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, roll or skate and enjoy neighborhoods, participate in free activities, support local businesses, and connect.

Since October 2021, Living Streets Alliance (LSA) has been hosting Cyclovia Remix, visiting a different Cyclovia route each month in a hybrid celebration of vibrant neighborhoods throughout the city. LSA hosted hundreds of people at pop-up events in parks, distributed bike light sets with Pima County Department of Environmental Quality, led bike group rides with Tucsonans of all ages, serviced bikes in need of repair, and provided children with free bike helmets thanks to the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility. In partnership with the Pima County Health Department, hundreds of vaccines were administered at Cyclovia Remix events.

These smaller community events have been building excitement for the March 27th Cyclovia Tucson route connecting Jácome Plaza and the City of  South Tucson. Enjoy some of Tucson’s oldest neighborhoods as you make your way between seven different activity hubs, parks, schools, and South 4th Avenue’s restaurant row. Dig in the dirt at Drachman’s eco-themed hub, get down with Zumba while you watch BMX bikers fly through the air, bounce your worries away at Ochoa, or pick up dog treats all along the route.

“Over the many years that Banner—University Medicine has worked with Cyclovia, we are most excited to welcome back our community for a safe and dynamic day dedicated to vibrant, healthy streets. We are thankful for the collaboration with our partners at Living Streets Alliance to invite Tucsonans out to participate in activities that positively address physical, mental, and emotional health in remarkably fun ways. Our teams will be on site with educational and engaging activities for you and family. We hope to see you there!” says Sarah Frost, CEO of Banner—University Medicine.

There’s still time to join the fun as an activity partner. Food vendors, businesses, organizations, community groups, and clubs are encouraged to contact Living Streets Alliance now to participate in or become a sponsor of the March 27th event, with an expected 40,000 participants. Volunteers must register by March 1st.

The seventeenth Cyclovia Tucson event is presented by Banner—University Medicine and made possible with additional support from Pima County Department of Environmental Quality, City of Tucson, Cigna, The Downtown Clifton, the City of South Tucson, Arizona Commission on the Arts and dozens of other partners and sponsors.
