70+ tour Tucson’s architecture as part of Architecture on Wheels 2013

Arch on Wheels2013Last Sunday seventy architecture fans joined LSA and AIA Southern Arizona for the third year in a row for a series of fascinating, informative, and inspiring hike and bike tours. Participants gathered at the flagpole at Old Main on the University of Arizona campus to take in the site of the iconic building’s façade sans the wooden veranda, temporarily removed during this stage of the renovation process. Tour guides Jennifer Levstik, R. Brooks Jeffery, Demion Clinco and this year, special guest State Senator Steve Farley led three different tours each exploring the concept of “Game Changers” in Tucson development and architecture.

The Arizona Daily Star published this opinion piece by AIA architect Rob Paulus summarizing the rapid changes and growth Tucson has recently experienced – especially in downtown.

Thanks to our partners AIA Southern Arizona, Caffe Luce for providing us all with delicious coffe in the morning and to Sally Kane and Gregor Kretschmann of the Coronet Café for refreshments at the Coronado Hotel.
