25,000 came out to explore new Cyclovia route, despite spring showers

It ended up being a beautiful day… but we’ll be honest, we weren’t sure how the day was going to go with weather reports predicting a 70-80% chance of rain and even a scattered thunderstorm or two.

We are so happy to report that for the most part, the rain held off and only really started to come down hard at about 2:30pm. That gave us, and 25,000 other people, the chance to explore the new Cyclovia Tucson route under ever-changing skies and mostly mild temperatures.

By all accounts, the new route was well received with many commenting on the beauty of the landscaping and historic homes all along the streets. We’d like to thank everyone who helped out as a volunteer, provided an activity, hosted bike repair, distributed a helmet, and who braved the rain with huge smiling faces. What a day! You can see tons of great photos of the event here and here.

We are also happy to report that thanks to a generous donation from Tucson Medical Center, as well as the more than 150 individuals who contributed, we reached our fundraising goal of $15,000! The community support for this event is incredible — thank you, Tucson!

Make sure to save the date for Sunday, October 30th, when Cyclovia Tucson returns along yet another brand-new route. What will it be?!?!
