Highlights of the second annual ApROLL Bike & Walk to School Challenge

As our Safe Routes to School Tucson program wraps up its second year, we’re thrilled by the excitement and enthusiasm we felt across the region in April.

Over 6,000 students from 35 schools in 7 local school districts walked, biked, and rolled to school during our 2nd annual ApROLL Bike & Walk to School Challenge!

Los Amigos Technology Academy ended ApRoll with a bang! Over 200 students, parents, and teachers, with the support of community and school district partners, walked and biked to school with Tucson Mayor Jonathon Rothschild.

Several teachers led the walking and biking routes all week long, going the extra mile by dressing up as healthy foods. We’d like to thank all of the amazing faculty that we get to work with through our SRTS program. Our efforts would not be half successful if it weren’t for their support, energy and enthusiasm!

In other news, Beverly Rabinowitz from our very own SRTS focus school, Blenman Elementary, won the AAA Crossing Guard of the Year Award! Beverly’s work as a crossing guard is an integral part of Blenman’s commitment to keeping kids safely on the move. Congratulations to Beverly and Blenman Elementary School!
