Action Alert: The moment has come for Complete Streets!

After two years of advocacy, community outreach, and a collaborative policy development process with Tucson Department of Transportation and the Complete Streets Task Force, the moment to make Complete Streets official policy in Tucson has finally come!

Many thanks to those of you who have already supported this initiative in so many different ways. As Mayor and Council get ready to vote on the policy next week, here are three ways you can take action:

1. Contact your council member

If you haven’t already, now is a great time to contact our policymakers to show them that there is broad community support for Complete Streets. You can send an email to express your thoughts or sign on to this petition that our partners at the American Heart Association put together.

2. Stand with us

Tucson Mayor and Council are scheduled to vote on the Complete Streets Policy next week. Please join us at this very important meeting to fill the room and demonstrate that there are a whole lot of people who care about this issue. Please let us know if you’re planning to come and spread the word via our Facebook event page.

Tuesday, February 5th @5:30pm
Mayor & Council Chambers
City Hall, 1st Floor
255 W. Alameda Street

3. Voice your support

If you’re able to join us at the Mayor and Council meeting on February 5th, you can fill out a speaker card and address the Mayor & Council during the the call to the audience. Speakers are limited to three minutes. We’d be happy to brainstorm with you if you’d like help refining your talking points, so get in touch with us if you do.

Complete Streets is about to be a reality thanks to people like YOU who deeply care about creating great streets and safe, reliable, and affordable transportation options for everyone in Tucson. We can’t wait to celebrate the adoption of this policy with you, and hope to see you on Tuesday!
