Pedaling the Pueblo podcast: Our favorite episodes from 2022


Pedaling the Pueblo is a mini-program and podcast connecting you to bicycle events and updates in Tucson, produced by Living Streets Alliance in partnership with Tucson community radio, KXCI 91.3 and the City of Tucson Bicycle & Pedestrian Program. Hear from planning professionals, grassroots organizers, and local storytellers as they share what they’re working on, what’s exciting in the bicycling ecosystem, and how more people can move toward better, more equitable biking experiences.

Getting Tucson on the Asphalt Art Map


The 6th Avenue traffic calming and asphalt art project, which many helped bring to life by rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands in paint last October, is now officially on Bloomberg Philanthropies' international asphalt art map, where you can also see great examples of creative, colorful asphalt art projects from across the globe.

A beautiful story map is also now available thanks to our partners at the Tucson Department of Transportation & Mobility. Click on the link below to have a look.

Cyclovia Tucson 2022 benchmarks: BIG impacts!


2022 marked our biggest season of Open Streets yet, with 90,000 people of all ages attending two Cyclovia Tucson events. Check out other benchmarks and highlights collected through the Cyclovia Census—our participant survey—in a fun infographic, hot off the press.

And, stay tuned we'll be revealing the Spring 2023 route later this month!

Old Pascua Block Painting Party

This weekend! Saturday, January 14, 9 AM - 3 PM
15th Avenue & Rillito Street

If you live in the area of Old Pascua, join the Old Pascua Youth Artists and LSA in painting a new asphalt-art mural and revitalizing the crosswalk near Richey Resource Center. The mural was designed by local artists, led by Brandon Varela, as part of the Thrive in the 05 initiative. Enjoy music, food, free bike repair and fun for all ages!

Bring a hat, water bottle, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.  We’ll have coffee and pastries in the morning and lunch in the afternoon.

Actions + Opportunities

Weigh in on Tucson's climate future

After much anticipation, Tucson's climate action and adaptation plan, Tucson Resilient Together, is ready for public review and comment on the Climate Action Hub website. The Draft plan will be available for comment until February 21, 2023. Once the comment period closes, the Plan will be updated and made available to Mayor and Council for final approval. We've been honored to be a part of the consultant team to lead community engagement efforts for Tucson Resilient Together and we encourage you to take look and share your thoughts via the online comment form.

Check out the Tucson-Norte Sur findings

Early last year, the City of Tucson launched and Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (eTOD) planning effort for a 15-mile transit corridor extending between Tucson Mall and the Tucson Airport, referred to as Tucson Norte-Sur. LSA has also been a part of this consultant team to facilitate a portion of the community engagement activities, working in close collaboration with the Lead Community Ambassador, Selina Barajas and a group of Community Ambassadors. The draft report from the first phase of the initiative is up on the Tucson Norte Sur project website and will be available for public review and comment (via this comment form) until January 31, 2023. Comments will be posted along with responses to the website, and a final report will be available following the review period.
