LIVING STREETS ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES 20TH CYCLOVIA TUCSON EVENT THIS FALL ALONG DOWNTOWN—AMPHI ROUTE

Tucson, AZ (August 1, 2023) – Living Streets Alliance is pleased to announce the Fall 2023 Cyclovia Tucson event which will take place on Sunday, October 29, 2023. From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the car-free route will connect communities between Downtown and Amphi Neighborhood.

During the 20th Cyclovia Tucson event, over three miles of local streets will be temporarily transformed into linear parks and block parties connecting an expected 50,000 people to local businesses, neighborhoods, organizations, and each other. People of all ages and abilities are invited to walk, bike, skate, roll, play, explore, and learn during this free event.

In Fall 2023, Cyclovia will extend a familiar route along 4th and Fontana Avenues—last activated in 2015—to include new partners and neighborhoods. The route features Tucson’s very first Bicycle Boulevard: the 4th Ave/Fontana corridor, running from University Boulevard to Prince Road. With traffic calming features where native plants flourish, push-button crossings, and bike- lane markings, these lower-stress streets have served as a proof of concept for several other bike boulevards that now connect Tucson neighborhoods, and that can be used year-round.

In preparation for this event, Literacy Connects, the Amphi Neighborhood, and Living Streets Alliance are hosting a Community Resource Fair on September 23rd, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Join these partners and many others at Literacy Connects, 200 E. Yavapai Road, for free bike repair, rental and utility assistance, healthcare, public benefits and much more.

The 20th Cyclovia Tucson event is presented by Arizona Complete Health and made possible with support from numerous partners and sponsors, including the City of Tucson, Cigna, AARP Tucson, and Pima County Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean Air Program. As a continuation of Thrive in the 05 community investment projects, the office of Council Member Kevin Dahl is providing invaluable support for Cyclovia and the preceding Resource Fair.

As part of the global “open streets” movement, Cyclovia Tucson is a unique opportunity for people of all ages to envision a city with safer, more sustainable mobility options for everyone, amidst thriving and enjoyable public spaces. Over 100 local organizations, including a wide range of businesses and community groups, along with diverse Tucson residents of all ages and abilities participate in the temporary transformation of our streets into car-free spaces where freedom of movement and connection are centered. There are many ways to get involved, including volunteering, sponsorship and underwriting, performing, or setting up an activity on the route. Learn more and register to participate at www.cycloviatucson.org

Cyclovia Tucson is a program of Living Streets Alliance (LSA), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for a thriving Tucson by creating great streets for all of us.
