VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AS 21ST CYCLOVIA TUCSON ROUTE TAKES SHAPE

Tucson, AZ (September 18, 2024) – October is just around the corner, and that means Tucson’s favorite car-free, carefree “open streets” event is almost here. Living Streets Alliance is thrilled to invite the public to its 21st Cyclovia Tucson event on Sunday, October 27th from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Returning to one of our favorite routes connecting Downtown Tucson and South Tucson, several miles of city streets will be temporarily closed to car traffic and opened up for people to walk, bike, roll, play, and connect at this free event celebrating Tucson’s unique cultures, art, and movement.

Activities, live entertainment, delicious food trucks, free bike repair, giveaways, and more will be concentrated into five unique Activity Hubs along the route. Route neighborhoods and activity hosts are coming together to bring you an exciting experience from start to finish; a big incentive to walk or cruise the entire route! Stop by any of three Information Booths to pick up a ‘Cinco for Cyclovia’ bingo game card and play to win prizes while you enjoy the event.

Volunteers of all kinds are still needed for the event! Visit www.cycloviatucson.org/volunteer to learn more and sign up to be a part of the magic in one of three ways:

Intersection Volunteer: Grab a friend and hang out at one of the smaller intersections, where you can keep the route flowing, chat with participants, and people-watch as thousands cruise through. The Fall event is always right around Halloween, an autumnal feast for the eyes.

Group Volunteers: Groups of six or more people can team up to help support busier intersections. These groups not only interact with the 50,000+ who come to Cyclovia, they’re also visible to traffic around the event. This is perfect for businesses and organizations that want to be SEEN far and wide!

Super Volunteers: Super Volunteers are truly Cyclovia’s superheroes! They help manage all intersection volunteers and are knowledgeable about the event, locations of activities, and can hook you up with water, maps, and more.

Living Streets Alliance’s 21st Cyclovia Tucson event is presented by Arizona Complete Health and made possible with support from numerous partners and sponsors, including Banner — University Medicine and Banner — University Family Care, Arkos Health, AARP Tucson, the City of Tucson, the City of South Tucson, Pima County Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean Air Program, and Pima Federal Credit Union. Sign up to volunteer, enroll your community group, or register as a food vendor at www.cycloviatucson.org.

As part of the global “open streets” movement, Cyclovia Tucson is a unique opportunity for people of all ages and “walks” of like to envision a city with safer, more sustainable mobility options for everyone, amidst thriving and enjoyable public spaces. A variety of local organizations, including a wide range of businesses and community groups, along with diverse Tucson residents of all ages and abilities participate in the temporary transformation of our streets into car-free spaces where freedom of movement and connection are centered. There are many ways to get involved, including volunteering, sponsorship and underwriting, performing, or setting up an activity on the route. Learn more and sign up at www.cycloviatucson.org.

Cyclovia Tucson is a program of Living Streets Alliance (LSA), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to transform our streets into vibrant public places that bring people together and provide safe, accessible, and attractive transportation options.
