Vision Zero Resolution

Take action to support the first-ever national commitment to Vision Zero

As we applaud the introduction of the first-ever Congressional Resolution calling for the national goal of zero traffic deaths, we need YOUR help to win support from more members of Congress.

Our allies at Vision Zero Network have been doing remarkable advocacy work to push for this bill and keeping tabs on the co-sponsors. According to their latest update, there are 51 official supporters of the Resolution out of 535 members of Congress. This is a good start, but we're in a national crisis with an estimated 42,060 traffic deaths in 2020. That's the equivalent of two 747 Jumbo Jets falling out of the sky every single week. To make the picture even worse, we now have new data showing that U.S. road fatalities increased 18% in the first half of 2021. These traffic deaths are preventable and we need urgent action now from all of our lawmakers at the federal level.

You can help by calling or emailing your Senators and Representatives and urging them to co-sponsor the Zero Traffic Deaths Resolution!

  1. Check here to see if any of your federal representatives have co-sponsored the Resolution. We'll take the guesswork out of it if you're based in Tucson: So far, no one from Arizona has signed on. (You can find your federal representatives here by simply entering your home address if you don't know who they are.)

  2. Contact your Senators and Representatives by phone or by filling out the contact forms on their websites. Let them know that you are a constituent and encourage them to sign on as a co-sponsor to the Resolution. (See helpful scripts for calls and emails here.) Ask a few friends, family members, and colleagues to do the same.

Here's the good news: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, which was just signed into law in November, provides billions of dollars and a historic opportunity to invest in safe streets. The time is NOW to urge our lawmakers to commit to Vision Zero.
Please take action today!
