In support of fare-free transit
In 2020, Tucson eliminated transit fares in response to the COVID-19th pandemic. Now, Tucson is one of many cities considering making public transit free, permanently. Living Streets Alliance supports keeping zero-fare transit as an investment in economic and racial justice, our shared climate future, and safer, more hospitable streets for all. And, it's a complex issue! Click the link to check out our blog post which dives into the nuances, the facts, and many of the current arguments for and against permanent fare-free transit. You can also sign onto a petition in our Actions section below.

Protect the future of biking, walking, and transit in Arizona!
Arizona’s state legislature is currently considering two bills that could dangerously limit the expansion of safe and connected biking, walking, and transit across the state. Senate Bill 1312 would prohibit the state or any municipalities from setting goals around reducing or tracking vehicle miles traveled. If passed, Arizona would needlessly remove a critical lever for creating a more sustainable future. Senate Bill 1313 would prohibit any city with a population of more than 50,000 to pass any policy or project that would limit its system’s capacity for cars. In other words, this bill could prohibit cities from building bike lanes, creating complete streets, and investing in multi-modal options. Click the button below to send your senators and representatives a letter in opposition of these bills.

Why Arguments Against 'Free Transit' Are Missing the Point
Fare-free transit is a hot topic.
