LIVING STREETS ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES 21ST CYCLOVIA TUCSON EVENT RETURNING TO SOUTH TUCSON—DOWNTOWN ROUTE THIS OCTOBER

Tucson, AZ (August 8, 2024) – Living Streets Alliance is thrilled to announce the Fall 2024 Cyclovia Tucson event which will take place on Sunday, October 27, 2024. The event will return to a favorite and frequent route, once again connecting vibrant communities in South Tucson and Downtown Tucson from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

During the 21st Cyclovia Tucson event, 2.25 miles of local streets will be temporarily transformed into living, breathing, thriving public space! Cyclovia Tucson is Arizona’s biggest block party, filling the streets with 50,000 people, including local businesses, food trucks, activities, and friendly faces. Dozens of nonprofit and service organizations, performers, and community partners will bring the route to life, providing a fun, car-free day for people from across the region to enjoy. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to walk, bike, skate, roll, play, connect, and learn during this free event.

The Cyclovia Tucson: Downtown—South Tucson route has been activated seven times since 2011. This October it will once again pass through some of Tucson’s oldest neighborhoods and connect with two parks (Armory Park, Santa Rosa Park), three schools (Mission View Elementary, Ochoa PreK-8, Drachman Montessori), Children’s Museum Tucson, Arizona Theatre Company, and so much more. Living Streets Alliance is excited to uplift the varied histories along the route and the unique ways that each neighborhood shapes the event.

The 21st Cyclovia Tucson is presented by Arizona Complete Health and made possible with support from numerous partners and sponsors, including Banner — University Medicine / Banner — University Family Care, the City of Tucson, the City of South Tucson, Pima County Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean Air Program, AARP Tucson, Rio Nuevo, Tucson Water, Gloo Factory Inc., Pueblo Vida Brewing Co, Dragoon Brewing Co, and El Rio.

Cyclovia Tucson is a program of Living Streets Alliance (LSA), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to transform our streets into vibrant public places that bring people together and provide safe, accessible, and attractive transportation options. LSA is increasing healthy, dignified, sustainable transportation in Tucson through outreach, education, and advocacy. For more information visit www.livingstreetsalliance.org.

As part of the global “open streets” movement, Cyclovia Tucson is a unique opportunity for people of all ages and “walks” of like to envision a city with safer, more sustainable mobility options for everyone, amidst thriving and enjoyable public spaces. A variety of local organizations, including a wide range of businesses and community groups, along with diverse Tucson residents of all ages and abilities participate in the temporary transformation of our streets into car-free spaces where freedom of movement and connection are centered. There are many ways to get involved, including volunteering, sponsorship and underwriting, performing, or setting up an activity on the route. Learn more and sign up at www.cycloviatucson.org.
